Waco

Today we spent the day in Waco/Hewitt. We have been in search of a bunk bed for the boys. I mentioned this to my good friend Dana on Thursday. She told me her parents still had the bunk bed she and her sister used when they were younger. Her mom, Greta, graciously allowed us to borrow the bunk bed. Dana's parents live in Hewitt which is right outside of Waco. Since we were going to be a few minutes from Waco we decided to take the boys to the Cameron Park Zoo before picking up the bunk bed. The zoo was great. It was perfect weather and the boys loved all of the exhibits. Mason had the camera most of the time. He takes great pictures. See below!
These bears were hilarious! The male bear really wanted to play and kept swatting at the female bear. The female was NOT in the mood. She kept growling at the male and trying to get away. Finally she went and got into the water to get away from the male!

This crocodile kept snapping at a white bird that was on the outside of his cage. I think the bird was taunting the croc!

Lots of turtles!

Silly monkeys! They were swinging and walking on the rope. They were great entertainment!

After the zoo we drove to Greta and Ed's house. They have a BEAUTIFUL house. Dana's parents are wonderful people. When we got there Ed was leaving to go get dowels for the bunk bed because he couldn't find the ones that came with the bed. When he got back with the dowel he measured it and cut it into 4 pieces to fit perfectly into the bed. In the meantime Greta was busy feeding the boys homemade chocolate chip cookies, lemonade and milk. After getting the boys set up with a snack she vacuumed the mattresses to the bunk bed and lemon oiled the ladder. Ed also reinforced the railing for the top bunk. Then they helped us load the bed into our truck. Not only did they let us borrow the bed, they were so sweet to get everything just right for the boys. Oh and Alex stepped in an ant bed and got bit so Greta doctored him all up. It was so neat to watch them with the boys. They made sure they were completely happy and taken care of. Thank you so much Greta and Ed. We appreciate everything you did for us! :)

When we got back to pville we went to the apartment and set up with bed. The boys were SO excited! They kept climbing up and down the ladder. They love the bed. It matches perfectly with their existing furniture as well. I was a little nervous about having the boys share a room but I think the bunk bed was the perfect solution. They are going to have so much fun with it!

Moving day..

We move into our apartment in two days. Everything is moving so fast this month! We are looking for a bunk bed for the boys (since they will be sharing a room for a few months). If anyone has (or knows of someone that has) a bunk bed they are trying to sell please let me know. We are looking for a wood twin over twin bunk bed. This afternoon I went to look at the exact apartment we will be moving into. It was nice. I am just trying to figure out how we will fit our "bare essentials" into the apartment. I told Andy last night that I have been watching International House Hunters on HGTV and only people in the US live in huge houses. Everyone else in the world thinks 1200 sqft is a large place! So we are going to pretend like we are living in an apartment in Paris this summer! The boys went with me to look at the apartment and they thought it was really neat. They think we are staying in a hotel this summer! I think our dog will have the hardest time! He will miss his doggie door and yard! Wish us luck! A new life

On Easter Sunday we decided to release the frog that we "raised" from a tadpole. Watching the transformation was a really neat experience, especially for the boys. Here they are peeking at the frog before he was set free!

When he first touched the ground he was in shock I think! He sat there perfectly still for a good minute or so. Then he took off into the water!

Mason wanted to touch him one more time before he swam off!

After the frog release the boys wanted decided to wade in the water for a little bit.

(Note: he dressed himself! he has green pajama pants on with red and orange flames on one leg with the nice polo shirt! Awesome, huh?!)

Easter

April is such a busy month for us that it seemed like we blinked and it was Easter! Thursday was Mason's Easter egg hunt at his school. Alex and I went to help. Here are the boys with the eggs before the big hunt!

We invited my parents, Andy's parents, Casey, Heather and Amy to our house for lunch after church. Andy made fajitas and the fixings. Yummy!! We wanted to have everyone over for one last get together before we move to the apartment. We had a wonderful time!

As I was packing today I started thinking about all of the things that the walls of this house have witnessed. Andy and I bought this house together 4 months after we got married. Lots of things have happened in our lives in the past 8 years. Lots of great memories in this house. But the good thing is it's not the house that makes the memories, it's the people inside the house! So we will be able to make lots of new memories in our next place!

Andy saw this bird in our yard the other day and he hadn't seen one like this before. Andy can usually name every animal, plant, tree, etc that he comes across! So it's a mystery! Anyone have any guesses on what type of bird this is. It has a red chest and head.

Heather's 2nd wedding shower

We had a shower for Heather on Sunday at Dana's place. Dana bought this scrumptious chantilly cake at Whole Foods. It was yumalicious!

Even though it was a small shower it was nice to get to visit with everyone and just take a little time to relax! May 2nd will be here before we know it!

Water 2 Wine bottling

Saturday night I joined Heather, her mom and my mom at Water 2 Wine to bottle the wine Heather and I made a couple of months ago. It was so much fun! The wine we made is in the huge jug and it runs through a tube/machine and empties the exact amount needed into each bottle. There is a smaller tube leading to a 2nd wine bottle which would eventually be filled up too. Our batch ended up making 29 bottles of wine.

It's hard work! You have to stand there and sip on your glass of wine while you wait for each bottle to fill up!

The left over wine (which wasn't enough to run through the tubing) was used to refill Heather's glass!

After corking the bottle Heather added the custom labels and then foiled the top.

Things are getting crazy around the Dallmeyer house! We have a contract on our house. Our close date is April 27th. We got our inspection report back today and we just have to do a few minor things like REPLACE the ROOF, get the A/C serviced, and a bunch of other small things. Not to mention we need to find another place to live, pack up our entire house, celebrate easter, Andy's birthday and my brother's wedding (which includes a shower and a bachelorette party in between)! AAAAHHHHHH! I know it will all get done and everything will be fine, I just hope I am not bald by the time May gets here! Here are a couple of pics of the boys.
