Inner Space Caverns

Yesterday, in order to escape the heat, my mom and I took the boys to Inner Space Caverns in Georgetown. We explored the caves 50 to 70 ft. underground. The boys (especially Mason) loved it!
(from their website) Inner Space Cavern was discovered by a Texas Highway Department core drilling team in the Spring of 1963. While drilling through 40 feet of solid limestone, the bit broke into what is now known as Inner Space Cavern. An adventurous employee of the highway department was lowered into the hole while standing on the drill bit and holding tightly to the stem. He was the first human being to enter INNER SPACE.

A guy from UT came into the cave and painted pictures of the animals that used to inhabit the caves. The tour guide said one that looks like an armadillo was the size of a Volkswagen Beetle when it was living in the cave.

At each "room" in the cave the tour guide would tell the kids a story pretending the shapes from the ceilings and walls were make believe items. He was really good and the kids had a great time.

We were allowed to touch one of the formations They are smooth.

Our weekend

We had a busy weekend! Friday we drove to Brenham to close on our house. We got up early Saturday morning and drove back to Austin to attend Abby's 6th birthday party. Below is a picture of Abby and Mason taken Thursday at Lakeline mall. Cindy and I took the kids bouncing at Inflatable Wonderland. We were able to sneak in a little shopping too! Look at our little toothless angels!
Mason being silly at Abby's birthday party. She had her party at Mel's in Georgetown. It was a really nice bowling alley with a sports bar/grill attached. We had pizza at the party (from Mel's) and it was really good!

Sunday was Andy's last day with us before he started his new job in Navasota. We did all of our favorite things. We started off at UT playing in the fountain and feeding the squirrels.

Last time we were at UT they were working on the fountain. It's working great now!

It was so hot yesterday! The boys enjoyed putting their feet in the fountain.

After UT we went to Mommy's favorite place- Chuy's on Barton Springs! Yummy!

After Chuy's we went to Petland then Cabellas. Last night we had dinner at Cheddars and finished off our meal with the Cookie Monster dessert! YUM! I think I gained about 8 lbs yesterday!

After dinner we went to the grocery store and then home to put the boys to bed and pack Andy for the week. Mason cried for a good hour straight when Andy left. It was so sad. We plan on going to Brenham Thursday to see him. We already can't wait!

Galveston 2009

We took our annual trip to Galveston this week. We had a great time. We stayed at the Casa Del Mar which is where we normally stay. The weather was great! We swam at the pool in the morning and went to the beach in the evening. All of the restaurants we usually eat at were open and the beach was clean. There is still a lot that needs to be rebuilt but from a tourist perspective our stay was great. Here is the view from our balcony.

All of the shops on the water were destroyed or severely damaged. They are rebuilding Murdochs and the shops surrounding them.

I just thought this building (on the Strand) was neat looking.

I can't even imagine what it was like right after the storm! The building downtown have tape on the walls showing the water line.

The beach! Alex actually enjoyed jumping the waves this year.

Mason was the most excited about the beach. He could spend all day there if we let him. He had so much fun jumping the waves! He is already asking us when we can go back to the beach this summer.

Sprinkler Fun

The boys decided they would like to run through the sprinkler and have water hose fights since it was so hot yesterday! They had a blast...and went to bed at 7:00!! Andy and I went to see the Hangover last night. It was hilarious!! Oh, and the boys do own swim suits, but they preferred to run around in their undies!

Sweet Tooth

Alex has the biggest sweet tooth I know! Yesterday morning he practically devoured this extremely large cinnamon roll! He was so proud!

Oops!

This was on our door last night (this morning) when we got home. Apparently Scotty's barking was a little irritating to our neighbors so they called the police. Nice!

Evening at the Zoo (aka: my parent's house)

This afternoon we went to visit my parents and were surrounded by animals and insects! My parents were dog sitting 3 dogs (plus their dog). We also saw this interesting lizard (?) eating it's dinner (which wasn't dead yet...yuck!). Dogs and Lizards and Roaches OH MY! :)

Changes ahead

Apologies in advance for the informal way I am announcing our latest news. Just wanted to let everyone know that Andy accepted a job offer from Mid South Synergy in Navasota. He will be the Financial Controller reporting directly to the CFO. He will start his new job the last week in June. Therefore, we will be moving to Brenham this summer. We made an offer on a house and should close on July 15th if all goes well. It's in a private community called Country Club Estates off of 105. It's on the way to Navasota so Andy's commute should only be about 15 minutes. There are only 12 houses in the neighborhood and everyone is on 1.5 to 3 acre lot. The neighborhood was established in the 80's so there are plenty of mature trees. Here are some pics of the outside of the house. I'll publish pics of the inside on another post. This house is 2534 sqft and has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. It also has a study that we plan on converting to a playroom/guest bedroom. It's on 2 acres. It has lots of windows and tile throughout the house. There is a covered porch which you can access from the living room and the master bedroom. The master bath is huge! It even has a ceiling fan in it! The kitchen has a huge island with a place for 4 people to eat. It also has a separate breakfast area. There is granite throughout the kitchen. It has TONS of cabinets! I am actually going to have to start cooking now! More details to come as we go through the house buying and job starting process!
